Analeptic remedy of mixed action. The mechanism of action consists of a central and peripheral effect on the nervous system.
 
The central mechanism is associated with a direct effect on the vasomotor center of the medulla oblongata, leading to its excitation and an indirect increase in blood pressure (especially with the initial inhibition of this center).
 
The peripheral effect is due to the excitation of carotid sinus chemoreceptors, which leads to an increase in the frequency and depth of respiratory movements. It does not directly affect the cardiovascular system.
 
Pharmacokinetics
 
Absorption is high and does not depend on the route of administration. It undergoes rapid metabolism in the liver with the formation of inactive metabolites, excreted mainly by the kidneys.

Indications

Acute and chronic circulatory disorders, decreased vascular tone, weakened breathing (including in patients with infectious diseases and in recovering), acute collapse, asphyxia, shock conditions during and after surgery, asphyxia of newborns, poisoning with drugs, sleeping pills, analgesics .

Pregnancy and lactation

There is no reliable data on the safety of the drug during pregnancy and lactation. It is not recommended to use this drug during pregnancy and lactation.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity, epilepsy, history of tonic-clonic seizures in history, hyperthermia in children.

Enhances the effects of psychostimulants and antidepressants. Reduces the effect of narcotic analgesics, sleeping pills, antipsychotics, tranquilizers, anticonvulsants.

How to take, course of administration and dosage

The drug is administered intravenously, intramuscularly and subcutaneously.
 
Adults and children over 14 years old are injected subcutaneously, intramuscularly and intravenously in a dose of 1-2 ml 1-3 times a day.
 
Intravenous administration is slow.
 
For children - subcutaneously, depending on age, at a dose of 0.1-0.75 ml.
 
Since subcutaneous and intramuscular injections of the drug Cordiamine are painful, procaine (Novocaine) 1 ml of a 0.5% solution is pre-injected to the site of the intended injection to reduce pain, depending on the situation. The highest doses for adults are subcutaneous: single - 2 ml, daily - 6 ml.

Overdose

Symptoms of an overdose: increased severity of dose-dependent side effects, generalized tonic-clonic seizures.

Overdose care measures: symptomatic treatment (including anticonvulsant drugs).
