Pharmacological properties.

Saccharomyces boulardii has antimicrobial effect due to an antagonistic effect against pathogenic and opportunistic microorganisms: Clostridium difficile, Candida albicans, Candida kruesei, Candida pseudotropicalis, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella typhimurium, Yersinia enterocolitica, Escherichia coli, Shigella dysenteriae, Staphylococcus aureus and other as well as Entamoeba histolitica and Lambliae. Saccharomyces boulardii has an antitoxin effect against bacterial cyto- and enterotoxins, increases the enzymatic function of the intestine. Saccharomyces boulardii is naturally resistant to antibiotics.

After taking the drug, Saccharomyces boulardii passes through the digestive tract unchanged without colonization. The drug is completely eliminated from the body within 2-5 days after discontinuation.

Indications

- Dysbacteriosis (treatment and prevention), 

recurrent colitis caused by Clostridium difficile, 

- colitis and diarrhea caused by taking antibiotics (treatment and prevention), 

- irritable bowel syndrome, 

- prevention of diarrhea with prolonged enteral nutrition through a tube.

Contraindications

1. Hypersensitivity to one of the components;

2. The presence of a central venous catheter, since rare cases of the occurrence of fungemia in patients with a central venous catheter are described in a hospital setting.

Side effects

In rare cases, a manifestation of individual sensitivity to the components of the drug is possible.

Interaction

With the simultaneous use with antifungal drugs for oral administration, the clinical effectiveness of Enterol is reduced (this combination is not recommended).

How to take, course of administration and dosage

Children from 1 year to 3 years - 1 capsule twice a day for 5 days. Children from 3 years old and adults - 1-2 capsules twice a day for 7-10 days. 

Enterol ® should be taken 1 hour before a meal with a small amount of liquid.

It should not be washed down with hot and alcoholic drinks.

For young children, as well as in cases of difficulty swallowing, the capsule can be opened and its contents given with a cold or slightly warm liquid. 

Taking the drug for the treatment of acute diarrhea must be accompanied by rehydration.

Overdose

Currently, cases of an overdose of Enterol are not described.

Description

Smooth, shiny, opaque, white gelatin capsules No. 0, containing a light brown powder with a characteristic yeast odor.

Special instructions

The patient should be informed that in the absence of improvement after 2 days of using the drug Enterol , as well as with an increase in body temperature, detection of mucus or blood in the feces, you should consult a doctor.

A feeling of thirst and dry mouth indicates a lack of rehydration.

Release form

Capsules 250 mg. On 10, 20, 30 or 50 capsules in a bottle from a transparent glass with a plastic cover and a protective film.
 
1 bottle with instructions for use in a cardboard box. 5 capsules per blister made of PA / aluminum / PVC and aluminum foil.
 
For 2, 4 or 6 blisters with instructions for use in a cardboard box.

Storage conditions

At a temperature of 15-25ºÐ¡, out of the reach of children. 

Shelf life

3 years. Do not use after the date indicated on the package.
