A prophylactic agent based on a gel with bacteriophages "Phagodent" is intended for the prevention of purulent-inflammatory diseases of the oral cavity caused by pathogenic strains of bacteria. "Phagodent" is used for acute and chronic gingivitis, chronic periodontitis in the stage of exacerbation and remission, peri-implantitis, mucositis, acute and chronic aphthous stomatitis, glossitis.

Fagodent can also be used before surgical interventions (including before curettage of periodontal pockets, flap operations, frenulo- and vestibuloplasty, tooth extraction), in case of trauma (including after surgery, tooth preparation, gum retraction, use of separation matrices , removal of supra- and subgingival dental deposits) and burns of the mucous membrane of the oral cavity, gums, tongue, lips in order to prevent inflammatory complications.

It can be used for preventive purposes.

Recommendations for use

  • Phagodent is applied and / or rubbed into the gum. Direct application of the product into the oral cavity and its even distribution with the tongue is allowed (Phagodent is safe when swallowed). After using Phagodent, the oral cavity is not rinsed and food is not taken for 40 minutes.
  • Phagodent is used to treat a periodontal pocket, a focus of suppuration in the area of a dental implant (if necessary, use a dental instrument).
IMPORTANT! Do not apply Phagodent to closed foci of inflammation that do not have or have a limited outflow of exudate from the focus (for example, root canals of teeth, sutured wounds, etc.). The introduction of Phagodent into such foci can lead to a pronounced exacerbation of the inflammatory process and / or edema and / or lymphostasis.

The practice of using bacteriophages
Bacteriophages (from ancient Greek - "eaters of bacteria") are viruses that selectively attack bacteria: each type of bacteriophages is active only against a certain specific type of bacteria and is neutral against other species. In clinical practice, bacteriophages are used that destroy pathogenic bacteria without disturbing the normal flora of a person and without interacting with his organs and systems. This allows them to be used in all categories of patients (including newborns, pregnant and lactating mothers) as an effective and safe antibacterial agent for prophylaxis and therapy, including in combination with antibiotics ("Rational use of bacteriophages in medical and anti-epidemic practice. Federal clinical ( methodical) recommendations ". M., 2014).

The prophylactic administration of bacteriophages is of particular relevance in cases where there are no clinical signs of bacterial infection, and the use of antibiotics is undesirable due to their side effects. For example, bacteriophage prophylaxis of bacterial complications of viral and fungal infections, injuries, burns, surgical interventions, as well as prophylaxis of bacterial infections proper in the presence of various risk factors (concomitant diseases, certain conditions, a dangerous epidemiological situation and other unfavorable environmental factors).

As a result of the use of bacteriophages, pathogenic bacteria are destroyed, a normal balance of microflora is maintained, and the negative impact of infectious inflammation on the body is weakened. The complex protective action of bacteriophages helps the body to cope with the infection and its consequences, and the regular preventive use of bacteriophages prevents new cases of infectious inflammation or significantly reduces the severity of its course.
