Composition
Pyrantela pamoat 735 mg is equivalent to a pyrantel base of 250 mg.
Excipients:
Sorbinic acid, sucrose, xanthan gum, methylparahydroxybenzoate, propylparahydroxybenzoate, sorbitol 70% solution, polysorbate 80, chocolate flavor S 2761 (composition: propylene glycol, water, caramel dye, natural, identical natural and artificial aromatic substances), flavor
Pharmacological action
A broad-spectrum anthelmintic drug. Causes neuromuscular blockade of sensitive helminths. Active against Enterobius vermicularis, Ascaris lumbriocoides, Ancylostoma duodenale, Necator americanus, Trichostrongylus orientalis, Trichostrongylus colubriformis. It affects both mature and immature individuals of both sexes, does not affect larvae during migration.
Suction
After ingestion, the pyrantel is poorly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. After taking a single dose of 10 mg/kg of body weight, the plasma pyrantel concentration is 0.005-0.13 μg/ml for 1-3 hours.
Distribution
There is no data on the distribution of pyrantel in the body's tissues and biological fluids (theoretically, the absorption of the active substance is minimal), as well as on the possibility of releasing the active substance with breast milk.
Metabolism and excretion
Pyrantel absorbed into systemic blood flow is partially metabolized in the liver to N-methyl-1,3-propanediamin. 93% of the dose taken is excreted unchanged with feces, about 7% - with urine unchanged or as a metabolite.
Indications
- Askaridosis;
- ankylostomosis;
- necatorosis;
- enterobiosis;
- trichocephalus.
Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to pyrantel;
- myasthenia (treatment period).
Caution is prescribed for liver failure and children under 6 months old.
Side effects
From the gastrointestinal tract and liver: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain are possible; rarely - increased liver transaminase activity.
From the CNS side: rarely - headache, dizziness, drowsiness, insomnia, weakness; in some cases - hearing impairment, hallucinations, confusion, paresthesia.
Others: skin rash, fever.
Interaction
When used together with piperazine, Pyrantel acts antagonistically (this combination is not recommended). Increases the concentration of theophylline in plasma.
How to take, course of administration and dosage
In ascariasis and enterobiosis, in mixed invasions with these helminths - inside, once, after breakfast at the rate of 10 mg/kg.
Adults and children over 12 years old - 750 mg, with a body weight of more than 75 kg - 1 g.
Children from 6 months to 2 years old - 125 mg, 2-6 years old - 250 mg, 6-12 years old - 500 mg. In order to avoid self-invasion, it is allowed to repeat the course 3 weeks after the first admission.
In ankylostomosis, combination of necathorosis with ascariasis or other combined helminthic lesions, it is prescribed for 3 days for 10 mg/kg/day or within 2 days - 20 mg/kg/day.
In isolated ascaridosis - 5 mg/kg once.
