Composition

One Wormin tablet:

  • 0.1 g of mebendazole.

Auxiliary components:

  • Calcium hydrophosphate;
  • Magnesium stearate;
  • Sodium lauryl sulfate;
  • Food coloring Sunset orange;
  • Starch;
  • Gelatin;
  • Talk;
  • Food coloring Sunset yellow;
  • Vanillin.

Pharmacological action

A broad-spectrum antihelmintic agent; most effective in enterobiosis.

Causes irreversible violation of glucose utilization in the body of helminth and inhibits ATP synthesis.

Indications

Enterobiasis, ascariasis, ankylostomidosis, strongiloidosis, trichocephalus, trichinellosis, tenosis, echinococcus, alveococcus, capillaryosis, gnatostomosis, mixed helminthiasis.

Contraindications

Pronounced liver function disorders, pregnancy, lactation (breastfeeding), children under 2 years of age, hypersensitivity to mebendazole.

Side effects

From the digestive system: rarely - nausea, abdominal pain; when used in high doses for a long time, vomiting, diarrhea, transitory increase in liver transaminase activity in blood serum are possible.

On the part of the CNS: rarely - dizziness; when used in high doses for a long time - headache.

From the hematopoiesis system: when used in high doses for a long time, leukopenia, anemia, eosinophilia are possible.

From the urinary system: when used in high doses for a long time - hematuria, cylinderuria.

Others: when used in high doses for a long time - allergic reactions, hair loss.

Interaction

Mebendazole reduces the need for insulin in patients with diabetes.

Joint administration of mebendazole with lipophilic substances should be avoided.

When used simultaneously, cimetidine can increase, and carbamazepine and other metabolism inductors can reduce the concentration of mebendazole in the blood.

How to take, course of administration and dosage

Adults and children over 10 years of age with enterobiasis - at a dose of 100 mg once.

Children aged 2 to 10 years - at a dose of 25-50 mg once.

In case of a high probability of repeated invasion, the intake is repeated after 2-4 weeks at the same dose.

It is recommended to treat all family members simultaneously.

In ascariasis, trichocephalus, ankylostomidosis, tenosis, strongyloidosis and mixed helminthiasis - 100 mg morning and evening for 3 days.

In trichinellosis - 200-400 mg 3 times/day for 3 days, and from the 4th to the 10th day - 400-500 mg 3 times/day.

In echinococcosis - 500 mg 2 times/day in the first 3 days, then at the same dose 3 times/day in the next 3 days.

In the future, it is used at a dose of 25-30 mg/kg/day in 3-4 doses.

Special instructions

With prolonged use, it is necessary to control the picture of peripheral blood, liver and kidney function.

Do not allow alcohol consumption within a day after taking mebendazole.

Do not use a laxative after taking mebendazole.

Periodic examination of anal and feces smears is mandatory after treatment (the therapy is considered effective in the absence of helminths or their eggs for the next 7 days).
